B.A. in Art Education, Virginia Commonwealth University
Arizona Teaching License with SEI Endorsement
Jenny Knappenberger teaches upper school art to grades 5, 6, 7, and 8 at St. Michael’s. She began her teaching career in 2006 in Charlottesville, Virginia, where she taught middle school art and received the “Super Teacher” award during her second year. While there, she also led student trips to Washington, D.C., and Italy to explore art in real-world settings.
In addition to her work in art education, Jenny was also a professional ballroom dancer for nearly 10 years, a passion that continues and is now shared with her daughter.
In 2008, Jenny moved to Arizona to be closer to family, where she taught elementary art to over 600 students weekly. She often describes those days as “throwing six birthday parties a day”—a reflection of the energy and joy she brings to the classroom.
After taking time off to raise her daughter, Jenny launched Art with Jenny K, a website and resource hub for educators looking to integrate art and creativity into their teaching. Her work is now used by teachers around the world, and she is known for providing hands-on, meaningful art lessons that promote connection, calmness, and confidence in the classroom.
Jenny is excited to bring her passion for creativity and the arts to St. Michael’s. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, her dog Eames, and her horse Girl Crush.
