Ian Milliken

Chair

Ian Milliken is Pima County’s Cultural Resources & Heritage Preservation Officer. Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, he studied Mediterranean History at Vanderbilt University and the American University of Rome before embarking on a career in archaeology. Ian has worked on significant archaeological projects in the Middle East with UC Berkeley and Brown University.

After returning to the United States, Ian relocated to Tucson in 2007, where he worked in the private sector of cultural resources management. He later earned a Master’s degree in Anthropology from the University of Arizona. In 2016, Ian was appointed to the Governor’s Archaeological Advisory Commission by Governor Ducey and served as Chair from 2018 to 2020.

The Milliken family became part of the St. Michael’s community in 2020 when their daughter started kindergarten. Ian joined the Board of Trustees in 2022, where he played a key role in developing the school’s 2023-2028 strategic plan in collaboration with the Head of School.

Passionate about lifelong learning, Ian takes pride in his contributions to the St. Michael’s community. In his free time, he enjoys gardening, hiking, skiing, and, above all, traveling with his family.
