Our Community Covenant

The Values We Aspire to Each Day

HOME > STUDENT LIFE > Our Community Covenant

Student life at St. Michael’s is founded on respect, kindness, hard work, and honesty. To strengthen and sustain this culture, St. Michael’s students and teachers agree to live by our Community Covenant, which is a promise we make to one another to support our school’s shared Core Values.

Balance in Mind, Body, and Spirit

We take care of ourselves, we try new things with joy, and we are faithful in caring for all parts of our being.

I will…

be open to new ideas and activities.
… care for my body, my brain, and my spirit.
… look for ways to help and care for others.

Difference and Belonging

We are all unique individuals with different backgrounds, interests, talents, and needs. With patience, kindness, and goodness, we celebrate our differences and welcome everyone into our community.

I will…

… be proud of the things that make me unique and celebrate the things that make others different from me.
… use thoughtful and sensitive language to discuss differences.
… recognize that each person makes our community whole and deserves to be included.

Community

Positive relationships make our community strong. We practice love, peace, patience, kindness, and respect to build strong connections for learning and growing together.

I will…

… demonstrate respect by using polite language and appropriate manners wherever I am.
… work to resolve problems peacefully.
… ask for forgiveness if I hurt someone and forgive people if they hurt me.
… practice the golden rule, to “treat others the way I would like to be treated.

Excellence

Excellence means trying our personal best, not being perfect, in both our school work and our behavior with one another. With patience, faithfulness, and self-control, we are always trying to be better versions of ourselves.

I will…

… set goals for myself and try my personal best each day.
… try new things and keep working, even when it’s hard.
… learn from my mistakes and try again to get better.

Integrity

Integrity is the foundation of our character. We do the right thing, even if it’s difficult or unpopular. We tell the truth and can be trusted to live up to our community expectations. With integrity, we  practice self-control for the good of ourselves and our community.

I will…

… take responsibility for my actions and accept the consequences if I make a mistake.
… be honest and trustworthy, even if no one is looking.
… keep my promises and help my community.
